What kinds of sounds are we collecting?

We are collecting just about every imaginable sound from Denmark.

Just not what is called “instrumental music”.

So if you are a band with a demo to push, then sorry, there are plenty of other sites you can use. But we do want all kinds of voices- “oral culture”. Characteristic spoken Danish words, rhymes, idioms, sayings, lullabies, clapping and jumping games, dialects, mouth percussion, rap, and even jokes.  Sorry, we are not looking for interviews, sales  pitches, news items, and the like. But sounds that convey mental pictures of some place, time or happening in Denmark. Sounds that you think express or define danishness.

Household sounds, inside and out,

washing clothes, making breakfast

Workplace sounds, leisure time sounds, sports sounds

The wind in the willows, the waves on the beach

Old cars – new gadgets.  Bird calls, frogs and insects.

Urban sounds and countryside sounds.

Farm animals and machinery, the sounds of the old days and the new digital era.
