SoundQuiz & Audio exercises

SoundQuiz is a concept for a new entertaining and educational game, that can be played on the net by all ages and in all languages, in school or as a leisure pastime. Playing SoundQuiz trains your audio consciousness and heightens your awareness of audio culture, the sounds around you.

The game asks you to listen to a sound (MP3, duration: 2 seconds to 23 seconds) and interpret what you have heard, by answering questions. Using existing Question Writer software, all different types of questions can be used (fill in the blank, multiple choices, matching, yes/no, etc.) Acceptable answers receive allocated points, which are tabulated automatically and there are points for misspellings as well as partial points for almost correct answers. Quiz questions can be open for individual interpretations of sounds (essay questions).

SoundQuiz is also designed for blind or sight impaired players.

SoundQuiz can be played by the blind, using a screen reader and keyboard for answers. It provides a unique opportunity to explore audio perception in those who have never seen what they are hearing.

The game explores our modes of listening to specific sounds and voice expression, as well as how we interpret these expressions – and collects millions of responses that can be datamined

Blind players can join the SoundQuiz community and help to form the game.
